Cal Club Autocross Wins 11 Classes and 11 More Trophies at Crows Landing Tour


Crows Landing, CA—Members of Cal Club Autocross competed at the Tire Rack SCCA Crows Landing Championship Tour on April 14-15, 2018, winning 11 classes and taking home an additional 11 trophies on the very grippy surface at the former naval base up in Northern California.

In the first heat, Jeff Stuart won the 12-driver E Street class in commanding fashion by beating second place by over four seconds, while Dennis Hubbard finished third. Eric Clements shot to the top of the charts in the 11-driver C Modified class, winning by over eight-tenths. Matt Ales earned the runner-up spot in the 10-driver Street Touring Ultra class, finishing back of first by nine-tenths.

In heat 2, Max Hayter used a flyer third-run to come from behind and take the win in the 14-driver Solo Spec Coupe class, with co-driver Mike Simanyi placing third. Jeff Wong had the fastest Sunday time in Classic American Muscle Contemporary but couldn’t quite move up to the top spot and finished in second by .277; Scott Mullens rounded out the podium in third. With only two drivers in their class, Steve Ekstrand beat co-driver and wife Stacey Miller in F Modified.

In the third heat, Anthony Porta laid down cleans runs to win B Street Prepared by 1.4 seconds, while Craig Naylor claimed the third and final trophy spot in Street Touring Sport. Adrian Cardenas came out of the gate strong and led the 17-driver Street Touring Xtreme class from start to finish, ultimately beating co-driver Steve O’Blenes by 1.8-seconds. Jonathan Lugod also dominated from the start in the 12-driver Street Touring Roadster class, beating Michael Yanase by 1.5-seconds with Reed Gibson in third half a second back.

In heat 4, Jessica Pao used a fast third run on the second day to claim a .321 win in Street Touring Roadster Ladies, while Catherine Tran (who ran unopposed in Street Touring Xtreme Ladies) claimed the ladies overall indexed championship. Ira Cruz beat co-driver Marco by half a second in D Street Prepared, while Matt Jones and Danny Gross trophied third and fourth respectively in A Street. Finally, husband and wife duo Jeff and Shawn Kiesel went 1-2 in E Modified.
